Build a backup job plan before you move regional
A simple way to avoid getting stuck if the first job is cancelled, delayed or weaker than promised.
Have a second and third option before spending money on transport or accommodation.
List three nearby options
Before you travel, search nearby towns and postcodes with similar work types. If one job disappears, you want options within reach, not a full reset.
Ask about start-date risk
Some seasonal jobs depend on weather, crop timing or labour demand. Ask whether the start date is confirmed or only expected.
Keep enough money to leave
A regional move can become expensive quickly. Keep a small transport and accommodation buffer so you are not forced to stay in a bad situation.
Check local transport
A job can be close on a map but impossible without a car. Ask how workers get to the site and whether lifts are reliable.
Use the first week as a test
If hours, pay or accommodation are very different from what was promised, decide early whether to stay or activate your backup plan.
Save the postcode, employer contact, start date, expected weekly days and accommodation cost for at least three possible jobs.
