Check the business behind the job ad

A practical checklist for checking who is actually offering the regional job.

Job check Know who is hiring you.

Save business name, contact details, worksite and payment process before travelling.

Ask for the business name

A serious job should have a clear business, farm, hostel, labour hire company or contractor behind it. Save the exact name.

Ask who pays you

The person messaging you may not be the legal employer or hirer. Clarify who issues payslips, invoices or payment records.

Check the worksite

Ask whether the worksite is the same as the town in the ad. If not, get the exact postcode.

Save contact details

Keep phone number, email, manager name and address. Do not rely on a disappearing social media account only.

Be careful with pressure

If someone pushes you to pay quickly, travel immediately or stop asking questions, slow down and verify more.

Simple verification

Before moving, you should know who hires you, who pays you, where you work and how records are issued.
