What to save during your first week of work
A beginner-friendly first-week proof checklist for WHV backpackers in Australia.
Save the basics before messages disappear or details become blurry.
Save the job ad
Keep a screenshot or PDF of the original ad. It can show role, location, employer, pay promises and start expectations.
Save written confirmations
Keep messages confirming postcode, tasks, start date, pay rate, hours and accommodation details.
Track each shift
Write down the date, start time, finish time, task and worksite. A simple note each day is enough.
Check the first payslip
When the first payslip arrives, compare it with your roster and bank payment. Fix mistakes while the job is active.
Keep employer contacts
Save manager name, business name, phone number and email. You may need them after leaving.
Create one folder per job: ad, contract, rosters, payslips, bank payments, messages and daily notes.
